You say you would like a house. Well, here is one for you and all you have to do is move it to wherever you wish. The house belongs to the church and was used as a rectory years ago. It is no longer being used and the church is having a tough time paying its bills especially those on a building no one uses. They mentioned that they would like to tear it down to make more parking space for the expanding congregation but the village review board won't let them because they consider it a historical building. So, the church decided to see if anyone would want it. I wouldn't think anyone would want it because it would be a very expansive project to move it. It would be cheaper to build a brand new house if that is what you want. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

the last few weeks the weather has been pretty erratic. Cold for a few days with the temps in the 20s and then back in to the high 30s and even the 40s. Yesterday it was in the mid 40s but today it in the low 20s. Weird, but the ice continues to expand. I wonder if we will see some ice fishing on the river this year.

Went for a walk this morning and walked over this bridge. The bridge is a truss bridge that goes over the Androscoggin River between Brunswick and Topsham, Maine. It was built in 1932.

I love these old houses. They have been around for decades and have some character. This time of year, as you walk, you will see lots of wreaths on doors, windows and even on the fronts or sides of the houses. Very festive!

Walking down on Maine Street, I came across Bill painting the colorful awnings that are across the street. He said he sometimes paints out there on the streets. He just dropped off some of his work at the Summer Island Studio in the Tontine Mall which is directly across the street from where he is painting.

Driving down Maine St heading to work. The old building you see is Fort Andross aka Cabot Mill. Over the years, the Mill has served a number of companies in a variety of businesses, including the manufacture of cotton cloth, woolen broadcloth, synthetics, shoes, brushes and woven fiberglass. After being renovated, it now is home for a couple of restaurants and businesses. On Saturdays during the winter it is home for the winter farmers market.

I took this last night and liked the way the lights lit up the house. I am still using my point and shoot and it is interesting what works and doesn't work. I believe the ISO was 200. This small camera is convenient when I walk because it fits nicely in my pocket but it is limited in what it can do.

life is good, isn't it? good times, good health, good friends!! this building has been renovated and brought back to life in the community. it opened about 2 months ago and will bring more traffic to maine street. maine street has a few new business and I will post them in the coming weeks. there are plenty of restaurants so when people come down this way, finding a place to get a bite won't be hard.

Today was our share pick-up day at Crystal Springs Farm. Tons of veggies!! When we leave the farm, this place is directly across the street and I have been watching the flowers grow and bloom for weeks now and decided that today was the day to photograph it. It really is beautiful. After I took these shots, a bunch of bike riders stopped, took a break and admired the flowers too. I didn't know which one to post so I posted them all :)

These shuttle buses are one the best things that happened in Brunswick. People who don't drive can get across town to shop if they need too. They are energy efficient and are a lot better than the old buses that have their exhaust polluting the air.

Today was pick-up day at Crystal Spring Farm for CSA members. It was probably one of the hottest if not the hottest day of the year. Add some humidity and you have yourself a very uncomfortable day. The first thing we did was head over to the Upick fields and got some snap and snow peas, chives, cilantro and some flowers. Then I looked over and saw these guys. They didn't move an inch. Probably been there for hours and most likely still there. I guess the pig who took over the water trough was comfortable. I guess you could call him the "King of the Trough".

This is a short cut for some who live nearby. Just about 1/4 mile from here is Hannafords, a local supermarket. A couple times a day, a train will come by with tourists heading either to Portland or Boston or to places north of here such as Bangor. Using the train eliminates the hassle of finding a place to park your vehicle, spending money on gas, and just the plain act of driving. Sit back and enjoy a good old fashion train ride.

With the majority of the houses here in Brunswick, these colorful bushes tend to jump out at you. It is hard not to notice them and the white house acts as a very nice background canvas.

The rails are still being worked on as the workers prepare the tracks for the arrival of the Downeaster next year. The replacing of the tracks has been completed, at least in the area where I live and adjustments are always going on.

Lots of the barns and houses here in Maine are white which is quite interesting during the winter when it is snowing. Once spring comes along, the trees, grass and flowers add some nice color to the scene. This barn here is across the road from Crystal Spring Farm where we pick up our CSA (community supported agriculture) share every week. It is located on Pleasant Hill Road.

I really like the way the wood and stone highlight each other. I had walked past this place before and didn't have my camera so when I passed it again, I made sure to frame it this time and click the shutter button. I didn't notice the mailbox by the door and I like that too.

The construction of this new apartment complex has been going on for weeks. Once it is finished maybe some of the people who lived there will be welcomed back in to the new apartments.

Here is the info on the fire that occurred on February 16, 2011, just before 11pm, Brunswick FD received a call for a fire in a multi-unit apartment building. This fire would injure 3 civilians and take 3 Alarms, 5 towns, to contain. The resident of the fire room was transported with severe burns to Maine Medical Center. Two additional victims were rescued from a second floor deck. Initial arriving crews had heavy fire and smoke conditions.

the work continues on getting ready to welcome Amtrak to town even though they will not arrive until next year. A railroad platform will be built also. They are currently replacing the rails, one section at a time. The area here is where all of the supplies are kept.

the Unitarian Universlaist Church of Brunswick is the latest fire here in town. We're had 4 big ones in the last 2 months and luckily only 1 person was seriously hurt. the church suffered lots of water and smoke damage. the fire started in a light switch at the back entrance--right where those red doors are.

an early morning fire destroyed the building on the corner of maine and mason streets. the building was built in 1837 and housed 17 residents. it also was home to 3 businesses. it is the 3rd big fire that we had this year.
